Bicholim Police have arrested a 22-year-old man from Karapur, Sanquelim, for allegedly sexually exploiting a minor girl on multiple occasions after promising to marry her.
The accused, identified as Sachin Uallappa Kholkar, is reported to have developed a relationship with the victim and engaged in repeated sexual acts by misleading her with assurances of marriage.
Police said the exploitation occurred over an extended period before the matter came to light through a complaint filed by the girl’s family.
Based on the complaint, an offence has been registered under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (rape), along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Goa Children’s Act.
Kholkar has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities have urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any suspected abuse of minors without delay.
