In view of anticipated public gatherings and to maintain law and order, the North Goa District Collector has imposed restrictions on assembly and movement in and around Junta House, Panaji, on June 18.
The order, issued under Section 144 of the CrPC, prohibits the assembly of five or more persons, protests, morchas, and processions within the jurisdiction of the Panaji Police Station. The directive also bans carrying arms, sticks, banners, placards, loudspeakers, or any article that may be used for unlawful assembly.
The restrictions come as a precautionary measure in light of June 18, observed as Goa Revolution Day, which typically sees public demonstrations and political events commemorating the state’s fight for liberation from Portuguese rule.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate and ensure peace and safety during the day’s events. Any violation of the order will attract penal action under the relevant sections of the law.
