MARGAO: The Government has set a deadline of November 10 for completing all pending works related to the 18th Solemn Exposition of Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier.
This was revealed by Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Exposition Secretariat Committee.
Referring to the meeting of the Exposition Committee that was held at the Secretariat on Thursday, Sequeira stated that no proposed works will be held up due to wants of funds, keeping in line with the commitment given by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant earlier.
He also said there are some works like installing hangars that may be done closer to the event due to the high rental cost involved in that set up.
Responding to queries from media persons, Sequeira emphasized that all the stakeholders involved including the Church are responsible enough to see that the Exposition is a success, while allaying apprehensions being raised by Old Goa residents.
The Minister added that this is not the first time the State government has been involved in the Exposition given that it is held every ten years.
