MARGAO: The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) has informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that it has requested the PWD to allow a sewerage line connection from the SGPDA market to the PWD’s main sewerage line for the chicken, mutton, beef and fish vendors.
The High Court is hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the matter where the SGPDA is a respondent.
The court directed the Advocate General (AG) to see that the concerned departments take this matter to the logical conclusion and asked the SGPDA to engage a lawyer on their behalf by the next hearing date, which is scheduled for November 13.
This comes against the backdrop of notices that had been served to vendors from the SGPDA market regarding their absence of a connection to the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP).
Recently, Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira also mentioned that a new agency had completed successful testing of the functioning of the STP based in Navelim.
