Pedestrians navigating through Goa’s capital are facing increasing risks, as footpaths around the busy Patto area continue to deteriorate without any intervention from authorities. Many sections of the walkways are reportedly sinking, dug up, or riddled with pits and uneven surfaces, making them hazardous for daily commuters.
Residents and office-goers in the area have raised concerns about the poor condition of the footpaths, which are not only inconvenient but also pose a serious risk of falls and injuries — especially to the elderly and children.
Despite repeated complaints, civic authorities have yet to take any visible steps toward repairs or maintenance. With no warning signs or barricades in place, the situation has sparked criticism over the lack of urban infrastructure planning and pedestrian safety measures in the state capital.
Locals are now urging the Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP) and concerned departments to take immediate corrective action before the monsoon worsens the already fragile footpath conditions.
