For months together, this developer in Chuna Vaddo, Siolim has been releasing water on the public road which creates nuisance. Mud and pebbles get washed along with the rain water and spreads over the entire road. Two wheeler riders and pedestrians keep falling here as they keep falling and injuring themselves on the messy road.

Last week, the developer went a step ahead and emptied the contents of seven swimming pools which ended on the road and in the water bodies in the low lying areas of the village thus polluting them.

It is really sad to see that people who consume well water have to depend on tankers as their source of water has been polluted for no fault of theirs.

One fails to understand as to why the village panchayat is silent on the issue rather than initiating action against the wrongdoer. The civic body should ensure that show cause notices are issued to regular violators and file for cancellation of the licences of habitual offenders. Another such nuisance is created by another builder at Pilimbi.

Are the builders more important to the panchas and village panchayat than their own voters? Despite this issue being debated on and again at various gram sabhas, there is no action forthcoming. Are we waiting for tragedies to happen before initiating action? Let better counsel prevail.
