MAPUSA: A 26-year-old two-wheeler rider from Maina, Siolim died in an accident at Cunchelim, Mapusa on Saturday night.The deceased has been identified as Aaron Fernandes.
According to the police, the accident occurred when Aaron along with his acquaintance Hrugved Bandodkar (21) from Cunchelim were allegedly talking with each other while riding their respective two-wheelers. When they reached the slope near the Cunchelim garbage treatment plant their bikes allegedly collided with each other while attempting to avoid an oncoming speeding rickshaw.
Both the two-wheelers collided against a roadside compound wall and in the process Aaron died on the spot and Hrugved sustained serious injuries and he has been admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim hospital for treatment.
It is learnt that both were returning home after playing cricket match.
The Mapusa police conducted the panchanama and PSI Aditya Gad is conducting investigations.
