Good news for Goa Police as the State Police Control Room (SPCR) reported a significant drop in the number of calls received during the first four months of 2025. From January 1 to April 30, the SPCR handled 10,816 calls, down from 12,302 during the same period in 2024. This marks a decline of 1,486 calls, or an overall decrease of 12.08%.
Police officials attribute this decline to improved public safety, more efficient response systems, and strengthened policing strategies across the state.
Each major category of calls saw a decrease, with snatching incidents showing the steepest fall, down by 50% (33 in 2025 compared to 66 in 2024). Bullfighting-related complaints declined by 42.9%, while noise pollution and traffic-related calls dropped by 13.2% and 11.9%, respectively.
Calls related to fighting and assault fell by 11.4%, theft reports decreased by 16.1%, and accident-related calls went down by 9.9%. Also, there was a 21.5% reduction in calls related to crimes against women, a trend officials credit to sustained efforts in enhancing women’s safety through awareness campaigns, rapid response initiatives, and stronger community engagement.
