Following the tragic death of police constable Akash Naik, a group of concerned villagers from Sirsaim, led by residents Vidhyadhar A Bhagat, Hemant M. Kambli, Manoj Haldankar, Zean Dias, Atmaram Kalnekar, and Sagun Vernekar, visited the site of the incident to investigate the cause.

What was initially believed to be a water pool was revealed to be an abandoned construction pit measuring approximately 10–12 meters deep. The villagers expressed shock and outrage over the dangerous and unmarked location, describing it as a death trap hidden in plain sight.

In response, the community has issued an urgent appeal to the authorities, demanding that the pit be immediately sealed off and appropriate warning signage be installed to alert the public to the hazard. They warned that failure to act swiftly could result in more lives being put at risk.

The incident has sparked widespread concern and renewed calls for stricter monitoring of abandoned construction sites across the region. Authorities have yet to issue a formal response.
