In a shocking incident near the children’s park in Caranzalem, social activist Rama Kankonkar was brutally assaulted in broad daylight by a group of five miscreants.
According to Kankonkar, the attackers punched and thrashed him, smeared cow dung on his face, and then threw him onto the road. He alleged that the group was armed with a knife and a gun and threatened him with the chilling words: “Do you wish to be the protector of Goa? Let us show you.”
Kankonkar further claimed that one of the accused had attacked him in the past as well.
Police are investigating the incident, and security concerns have been raised over the safety of activists in the state.
