MARGAO: The South Goa District Administration has indicated that they may soon accommodate a long-standing demand of the South Goa Advocates Association (SGAA) for office space at the Collectorate building, known as the Matanhy Saldanha complex in Fatorda.
While responding to media queries on Wednesday, South Goa District Collector Asvin Chandru stated that the government had considered the advocates’ request and that the process to allot SGAA the said space was underway. The Collector added that the space could be handed over as early as next month, in October, provided all the necessary formalities are completed by that time.
The provision of office space at the South Goa Collectorate building is expected to ease the work of advocates who attend cases in various courts at the Collectorate office, which was the demand put forward by SGAA in view of the inconvenience they and the public face at present.
This move is seen as a positive step toward improving the working conditions for legal professionals in the region and enhancing the efficiency of legal proceedings at the Collectorate.
