
In a major step towards citizen-centric governance, the Office of the Collector and Dis trict Magistrate, South Goa, has announced the launch of Saturday Camps across the district to fast track the disposal of pub lic grievances and ensure seamless access to essen tial services. The initiative will roll out on Saturday, Septem ber 27, 2025, from 9:30 AM onwards. According to the order issued by Egna Cleetus, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate of South Goa, the camps will be organ ized in all offices of the Deputy Collectors and Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and supervised by the respective Deputy Col lectors, SDOs, and Mamlat dars. The camps are designed to bring multiple govern ment services under one roof for the convenience of citizens, while ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accountability. The focus will be on clearing pending applica tions related to, mutation and partition, tenancy matters, mundkarial cas es, sanad applications, forest rights claims, caste and income certificates, domicile certificates, ra tion cards and other ad ministrative matters. In addition to clearing backlogs, the camps will also facilitate on-the-spot acceptance and prelimi nary processing of new ap plications, while providing citizens with guidance on government schemes and benefits. Public grievances related to delays, misclas sification, and administra tive hurdles will also be addressed directly. To ensure efficiency, all officers from the con cerned departments have been directed to remain present during the camps. The Deputy Collectors and SDOs will act as Nodal Of ficers and are required to submit detailed compli ance reports by 5:00 PM on September 27. These reports will include statis tics on grievances resolved and services delivered which will then be consol idated and forwarded to the state government. Collector Egna Cleetus stressed that the initia tive is being undertaken in the larger public interest, with the goal of promot ing timely justice, efficient service delivery, and citi zen satisfaction. She fur ther emphasized that the administration is commit ted to reducing delays and eliminating bottlenecks in governance. To ensure maximum participation, the Collec tor has directed that the initiative receive wide publicity through local media so that citizens are well informed about the availability of services and encouraged to attend. The Saturday Camps are expected to set a precedent in responsive governance, bridging the gap between citizens and administration while re inforcing trust in public institutions.
