In a major drive against noise pollution, the South Goa Traffic Cell seized 13 vehicles in a single day for using modified, non-standard silencers that exceed legal noise limits, violating the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act. DySP RajendraPrabhudessai stated that six of the seized vehicles were by the Margao Traffic Cell, two by the Vasco Traffic Cell, and one each by traffic cells in Fatorda, Curchorem, Quepem, Ponda, and Canacona.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of SP (Traffic) Prabodh Shirvoikar. DySP Prabhudessai emphasised that regular enforcement is being carried out across South Goa and that strict action will continue against vehicle owners using illegal silencers.

Police Inspector Sanjay Dalvi noted that penalties for such violations can reach ₹10,000, and altered silencers are being seized. He urged vehicle owners to avoid unauthorized modifications and use only company-fitted parts for safety and compliance. Both Margao and Fatorda Traffic Cells are focusing on vehicles with illegal exhaust systems, which generate noise levels far beyond legal limits, disturbing residential areas. The South Goa Police reaffirmed their commitment to reducing noise pollution and ensuring safer roads through continued enforcement.
