Students from St Mary’s Convent High School, Mapusa, and Don Bosco High School, Sulcorna, got a rare glimpse into the workings of democracy as they attended the ongoing Monsoon Assembly Session 2025 on Thursday. As part of an educational initiative, the students witnessed live legislative proceedings and gained a deeper understanding of the state's governance processes.
A highlight of the visit was the interaction between students of St Mary’s Convent High School and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo on the fourth day of the session. This direct engagement gave them an up-close view of how elected representatives debate and make decisions.
The initiative is designed to promote civic awareness among young minds by exposing them to real-time legislative functioning. Through such experiences, students not only learn how policies and laws are shaped but also develop a stronger sense of responsibility as future citizens. Interactions with political leaders and participation in such sessions aim to inspire the next generation to take an active interest in democratic processes and public service.
