PANJIM: The State government has notified April 1, 2025, as the sunset date after which no more anti-profiteering cases under Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be taken up.
According to the notification, issued in line with the directions from the union government, the ongoing cases will, however, continue.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 171 of the Goa Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 (Goa Act 4 of 2017), the Government of Goa, on the recommendations of the Goods and Services Tax Council, hereby appoints the 1st day of April, 2025 as the date from which the Authority shall not accept any request for examination as to whether input tax credits availed by any registered person or the reduction in the tax rate have actually resulted in a commensurate reduction in the price of the goods or services or both supplied by that registered person,” the notification said.
Recently, the central government had notified April 1, 2025, as the sunset date for the anti-profiteering clause in the GST Law. This was done as per the recommendations of the GST Council, which in its 53rd meeting held on June 22, had recommended to amend Section 171 and Section 109 of Central GST Act 2017 with a provision of sunset clause for anti-profiteering under GST.
