Statewide Electricity Grid Upgrade Kicks Off: Sudin Dhavalikar

Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar announced on Wednesday that the Goa government has begun a comprehensive upgrade of its outdated power stations—a move aimed squarely at improving the state’s electricity supply reliability. Addressing mounting public frustration over frequent power interruptions, Dhavalikar assured citizens that the government is actively working to address the issues caused by multiple factors impacting Goa's power grid.
Responding to concerns about ongoing roadwork-related inconveniences, the Minister clarified that the excavation for underground cabling—often seen disrupting traffic and daily routines—is not confined to the Savoirem area but forms part of a much broader, state-level initiative. “This is a statewide effort to reinforce our power distribution network and ensure long-term stability,” Dhavalikar said.
He urged the public to bear with temporary inconveniences, emphasizing that these short-term disruptions are necessary to guarantee a stronger, more stable power infrastructure for the future. The government’s enhanced focus on modernizing the power supply system is expected to significantly reduce outages and improve overall electricity reliability across Goa.
Dhavalikar’s assurance comes as residents across the state voice frustration over recurring outages, exacerbated by roadwork and the challenges of upgrading aging infrastructure. The minister appealed for continued public cooperation, reiterating that the short-term pain will pave the way for a more reliable, efficient power network for all of Goa.
