Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar on Tuesday said that a shelter home for stray dogs will be implemented in the state in line with the directions of the court.

He assured that the necessary infrastructure will be created once the order is formally passed, ensuring that the issue of stray animals is addressed systematically.

Responding to queries, Halarnkar remarked in Konkani, “Bhurge javche paili payne banta?” (Shouldn’t children’s safety come first?), stressing the need to act swiftly to safeguard public safety while also providing a humane solution for stray dogs.

The move comes amid increasing concerns over the rising number of stray dog-related incidents across Goa.
