Students in Khandepar School Forced to Study Under Plastic Sheets

As the new academic year kicks off, 28 students at the Government Primary School in Kerya-Khandepar are forced to attend classes under plastic sheets, owing to the absence of a proper roof.

Despite repeated appeals over the past two years by parents and teachers, the Assistant District Education Inspector (ADEI) has taken no corrective action, locals allege. The makeshift plastic cover barely shields the children from sun and rain, raising serious safety and hygiene concerns.

“This is a government school, and still our children have to study in such inhumane conditions. The authorities have completely ignored our pleas,” said a concerned parent.

Local residents and parents blame the education department’s negligence for the situation, demanding immediate intervention before the monsoon worsens the crisis. Teachers also expressed frustration, saying the lack of infrastructure hampers learning and endangers the well-being of the children.

Residents have urged the state education ministry to step in and ensure a safe, functional classroom environment without further delay.
