Siddiqui alias Suleman Khan has filed a petition before the High Court seeking the quashing of multiple FIRs and chargesheets linked to alleged land grab cases in Mapusa and Valpoi. In his plea, Suleman has requested that the court either direct Revenue Courts to examine the allegations or transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a fair and impartial probe.
The petition, which raises questions over the legitimacy and conduct of the current investigation, is expected to come up for hearing next week.
The land grab cases have attracted significant public and political attention in Goa. Suleman Khan, who has been under the scanner in connection with disputed land dealings, maintains that the allegations are baseless and politically motivated.
With the hearing scheduled soon, the case could take a significant turn depending on the High Court’s ruling on the transfer of investigation or judicial review by Revenue authorities.
