
• The Supreme Court heard and disposed off all the allega tions against Vantara basis the Special Investigative Team’s report today • Supreme Court: “We have gone through the summary of the report. It notes erudite in regulatory compliance. It notes that stakeholders also presented views. Authorities have expressed satisfaction in the regulatory compliance etc. We will make the report a part of the order itself.” • Supreme Court: “Now we have report of an independent committee who were assisted by experts also.
Now all are free to take steps as per rec ommendations. Now we won’t allow anyone to raise ques tions again and again. We had given 10 questions which has committee has answered also.” • The Supreme Court also mentioned that the ‘Commit tee has extensively dealt with all the issues in detail.’ • Referring to Vantara, the Supreme Court commented, “There are some things which are pride of our country. We cannot raise these issues and create hue and cry. Let some good things happen in the country also. We should be happy about all these good things.” • The Supreme Court observed, “If acquisition of ele phant is as per law then what is the problem.
If all provisions are followed and acquires it.. what is the problem. You can not pass some general state ments like this.” • Two writ petitions alleged illegalities and improprieties at Vantara (Greens Zoological Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre & Radhe Krishna Tem ple Elephant Welfare Trust). • Earlier (25.08.2025), the Court had found no probative material but, due to serious ness, constituted a Special In vestigation Team (SIT) led by retired judges and senior offi cials to conduct a fact-finding inquiry. SIT Investigation • SIT coordinated with multiple Indian and for eign authorities (CZA, CBI, ED, DRI, Customs, CITES bodies, etc.). • Examined records, affida vits, site visits, expert opin ions, and personal hearings. • Investigated allegations relating to animal acquisition, smuggling, laundering, wel fare, conservation, financial improprieties, and environ mental issues. Conclusion : The Supreme Court ful ly accepted the SIT’s find ings, closed the cases, and barred repetitive litigation on the same issues. It also praised Vantara’s welfare standards and conserva tion efforts, while caution ing against unfounded allegation
