In a fiery speech during the Assembly session, MLA Venzy Viegas lashed out at the state government, accusing it of repeatedly delaying action on key public issues and misleading citizens with empty promises.
“This government is all about ‘tarikh pe tarikh’ (date after date). Whether it’s the Finance Commission recommendations, the CAG report, pothole-ridden roads, or the lack of textbooks in schools, all we get from this government is delay after delay,” said Viegas.
Slamming the government’s inaction, the MLA added, “Because of this ‘tarikh pe tarikh’ attitude, we Goenkars (Goans) have become ‘barik’ (thin/worn out). We’re fed up.”
In a symbolic protest, Viegas said the opposition would present the government with ‘chikki’ (a traditional sweet), mocking the administration’s lack of substance. “We will make a mess of their budget today, because their budget is a scam. We’ve prepared a full menu of this scam, and we’ll present it in the House,” he declared.
The remarks reflect growing frustration among opposition MLAs, who continue to question the credibility and accountability of the current government’s policies and budgetary promises.
