PANJIM: Alleging that one of their colleague was arrested without any rhyme or reason, a large number of taxi drivers gathered at the Mapusa Police Station demanding action against a Police Sub Inspector (PSI) on Tuesday.

The taxi drivers said that the person arrested was standing near a spot at Peddem-Mapusa, where an accident had taken place but the PSI manhandled him and dragged him to Mapusa police station.

The taxi drivers demanded alcohol test of the PSI in question and also sought action against the officer.

"It must be checked whether the PSI in question was drunk or not. Nobody has right to manhandle. We have several times demanded that such arrogant PSIs should be not posted on duty. The cops had no right to manhandle him," a taxi driver said.

The taximen said the PSI allegedly took the victim forcefully inside the vehicle as if he was an accused and insisted that action be initiated against the cop.
