PANJIM: The management of the private primary school at Camurlim suspended the two teachers who have been accused of brutally assaulting a Std IV student.
The teachers Sujal Gaude and Kanishka Gadekar were suspended two days after the horrific incident.
Speaking to O Heraldo, Director of Education Shailesh Zingde said,” The teachers have been suspended by the school management. We will hear from both sides and then take further action.”
Meanwhile, Colvale Police quizzed the two teachers at the police station in connection with the incident.
“We had issued them notices. They complied with them and appeared before the police station. They were questioned and let go,” Colvale PI Vijay Rane Sardesai said.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has warned of strict action against the teachers who have been booked under sections 118(1), 126(2), 351(2), read with, 3 (5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and Section 8 of Goa Children Act 2003.
“The teacher will initially be suspended by the education department, followed by further actions as required. It is alarming to witness such incidents, especially with three recent cases suggesting that some teachers may be projecting their personal frustrations onto students. This behaviour is unacceptable, and I believe these individuals may need counselling. Such conduct will not be tolerated,” the Chief Minister said.
