PONDA: The Ponda Police have arrested 19-year-old Vadood Shaikh, a resident of Ponda, in connection with the alleged rape of a minor. The arrest took place on October 6, following a written complaint from the victim’s mother.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on September 26, at around 3.30 pm at the Sports Complex in Curti, Ponda. The complaint alleges that Shaikh used criminal force to sexually assault the minor and recorded the act on his mobile phone, subsequently sharing the footage.
The police registered the case under several sections, including Section 74 of the BNS, Sections 8 and 14 of the POCSO Act, Section 67B of the Information Technology Act of 2000, the Information Technology Amendment Act of 2008, and Section 8(2) of the Goa Children Act.
Shaikh was taken into custody on October 6. The investigation is ongoing, led by Investigating Officer PI Vijaynath Kavlekar of the Ponda Police Station. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
