PANJIM: Stating that tenant and labour verification has become compulsory, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday urged all tenants to fill out forms before October 10.

Speaking to reporters after a high-level security review meeting of the State Home Department, he said, "Tenant verification forms must be compulsorily submitted to police stations from October 1 to 10. If someone is found staying in a house without verification, the house owner will have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000. It has been made compulsory. Therefore, house owners must fill out tenant verification forms and submit them to the respective police stations."

The CM stated that contractors of industrial units will also need to be registered with the Labour Department, and if they fail to do so, they will not be allowed to work in the state.

"The contractors will have to provide a list of workers to the concerned police station. It has been observed that migrants are involved in most crimes," he said.

The CM added that all police personnel who have been posted in one location for three or more years will be transferred. "The transfer order process will commence within the next three to four days. All police personnel, including constables, PIs, PSIs, and up to DySP level, will be rotated from police to traffic to coastal police," he said.

Pointing out that some police personnel have become settled in their current postings, he said the government will not bow to any pressure in this matter. Sawant also mentioned that it will be mandatory for police inspectors to reside in the vicinity of the police station where they are posted so that they are available at all times when needed.

He further stated that henceforth, 20 per cent of the police force will be deployed on night duty.

Security to be beefed up in Goa amid Mumbai alert

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the government will initiate measures to beef up security in light of the security alert in Mumbai following a tip-off by Central Intelligence agencies.

Speaking to reporters, he said, "Yesterday, various types of alerts were issued to Mumbai. Considering that Goa is a coastal state which receives fishing boats and has seen an increase in the number of migrants, tenant verification becomes necessary."

He mentioned that Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar briefed police department officials during the security review meeting.
