The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has come down heavily on the Goa government for its mismanagement of the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) recruitment drive for contractual staff nurse positions in Campal, where over 4,000 candidates turned up for just 200 vacancies. The overwhelming turnout has underscored the severity of the state’s unemployment crisis, with AAP leaders pointing to poor planning and inadequate facilities at the venue.
AAP Goa President Adv. Amit Palekar described the recruitment scene as chaotic and unorganised, citing the absence of clear instructions, basic infrastructure, and proper crowd control. He suggested that a digital registration system or a taluka-wise interview schedule would have ensured a smoother and more transparent process.
According to reports, many applicants arrived as early as dawn and waited in long queues for hours, some without access to drinking water or shelter. Several had travelled long distances from places like Canacona and Pernem. AAP volunteers were seen distributing water, juice, and providing moral support to those in line.
Highlighting the need for systemic reform, AAP leader Shri Krishna Parab advocated for digital and decentralised recruitment mechanisms in the future to ensure fairness, transparency, and dignity for job seekers.
The recruitment was scheduled from July 28 to August 4, 2025, according to official notifications, with one advertisement listing up to 100 staff nurse positions. However, the staggering response has raised serious questions about the government’s preparedness and the urgent need for structured, humane employment processes in Goa.
