Vasco Police have registered a case against three individuals for allegedly cheating a resident of Baina by fraudulently obtaining gold ornaments worth ₹8.78 lakh under the guise of offering a low-interest loan.

The accused have been identified as Safhan Khan, Shazia Sayed, and Sunil Chavan. According to the police complaint, the trio lured the victim by promising a loan at an attractive interest rate. However, once the gold was handed over as collateral, the accused reportedly failed to provide the promised loan and instead disappeared with the ornaments.

A case of cheating and criminal breach of trust has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Vasco Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are currently tracing the whereabouts of the accused.

Authorities have also urged citizens to remain cautious when dealing with informal loan agents and to verify their credentials thoroughly before parting with valuable assets.
