Three bookies were arrested in Goa's Calangute for placing online bets on an IPL 2025 match between KKR vs GT under the charges of illegal betting. The arrested individuals include Ankith Rathore (34) from Bhopal, Badal (32) from Sagar, and Ajay (32) from Sagar. During this operation, the police seized digital devices and mobile phones worth INR 1.10 lakh.
These arrests took place between 12:35 AM and 2:45 AM on Monday after a raid conducted by Calangute police. The raid was carried out at Flat No. 203, Arsh's Nest, located at Saldanha Kayla Garden, Baga, Calangute, Bardez, Goa. During the raid, the police seized a laptop and seven mobile phones. The three accused have been charged under Sections 3 and 4 of the Goa, Daman, and Diu Public Gambling Act (GDDPG Act).
The police are now investigating further to uncover the network behind this racket. The investigation is being led by Akshat Kaushal, the Superintendent of Police for North Porvorim, with the support of Inspector Paresh Naik and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Vishvesh Karpe.
