Three Mobor hotels fined for tobacco violations

MARGAO: The Salcete Taluka Enforcement Squad conducted surprise

inspections at luxury resorts near Mobor beach in Cavelossim and imposed fines under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).

Led by Salcete Joint Mamlatdar II Ana Rita Paes, the COTPA Enforcement Squad issued three challans for not having the requisite ‘NO SMOKING’ sign boards. Rs 5,000 was collected in fines

from three starred hotels in the area.

of GOACAN & Police Constable from Cavelossim Police Outpost assisted in the inspection.

“These inspections are part of our ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with tobacco control laws

in public spaces,” said an official.
