The Tivim Block Congress Committee has called on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate to expedite the regularisation of Goan houses that have been awaiting approval since before the year 2000. The committee stressed that no new amendments or policy changes should be introduced that might further delay or complicate the process. They emphasized that Goans, who have waited patiently for decades, deserve a streamlined, transparent process without additional bureaucratic obstacles.
A major concern raised by the committee is the protection of comunidade land—ancestral property with deep cultural and legal significance in Goa. The Tivim Block Congress insists that the benefits of regularisation, especially concerning such land, must be preserved for native Goan families alone. Extending these rights to non-Goans, they argue, could lead to misuse and encroachment, eroding traditional rights and disrupting the local social structure. Their appeal reflects widespread public sentiment on preserving Goan heritage and ensuring that land policies safeguard the rights of original residents.
