Trajano D’Mello accuses Goa Congress chief Amit Patkar of aiding BJP through backdoor politics

Political commentator Trajano D’Mello has launched a stinging attack on Goa Congress President Amit Patkar, accusing him of covertly collaborating with the BJP. According to D’Mello, Patkar’s recent targeting of BJP turncoats is counterproductive, as it may end up driving them back to the ruling party rather than strengthening the Congress or the broader opposition.

While Patkar has positioned himself as a vocal critic of the BJP and its strategies, D’Mello claims his actions are misleading both party workers and the public. “Instead of opening our eyes to the truth, Patkar is helping to shut them,” he said, suggesting that Patkar’s political manoeuvres are causing confusion and mistrust within the party.

D’Mello further warned that Patkar’s approach is not only damaging the Congress in Goa but is also weakening the INDIA alliance's national efforts to present a united opposition against the BJP. He argued that such behaviour erodes trust within the coalition and undermines its collective strength.

The criticism comes even as Patkar has been lashing out at the BJP-led state government, accusing it of a breakdown in law and order and calling it “spineless” amid a rise in criminal incidents. However, D’Mello’s remarks have shifted attention toward internal divisions within the Congress, raising fresh concerns about leadership and strategic coherence.
