Vehicular movement on the Anmod-Goa road came to a standstill on Tuesday after a large tree collapsed due to heavy rainfall in the region. The incident caused significant disruption to traffic, with long queues forming on both sides of the affected stretch.
Local authorities, along with forest and emergency response teams, were promptly deployed to the site to remove the fallen tree and clear the road for traffic. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Officials have attributed the collapse to the ongoing heavy rains weakening the soil and tree roots. Commuters have been advised to use alternate routes until the road is fully cleared.
The incident highlights growing concerns over road safety and infrastructure resilience during the monsoon season in Goa.
