Truck Overturns at Sanvordem Due to Lack of Speed Breakers, Streetlights
Published on

A truck carrying iron pipes from the Goa Sponge Factory overturned at Sanvordem on Saturday night due to overspeeding on a turn. Fortunately, the driver sustained only minor injuries and was taken to the Community Health Centre in Curchorem for treatment.

The accident has raised serious concerns about the safety of commuters, especially heavy vehicles, as the area lacks proper illumination and speed breakers. Locals have repeatedly demanded speed breakers and streetlights, citing them as essential measures to prevent accidents.

Despite the accident occurring late Saturday night, no authorities had arrived at the scene until Sunday morning to investigate or tow the truck. The iron rods and the overturned truck remained lying on the road, posing a hazard to other commuters.

I had requested the MLA and the Panchayat body six months ago to install speed breakers and proper signboards indicating speed limits, but no action has been taken so far

Residents have urged the authorities to take immediate action to improve road safety and prevent further mishaps in the region.
