On June 16, 2025, IndiGo flight 6E 6811, en route from North Goa to Lucknow, encountered mid-air turbulence shortly after takeoff due to intense monsoon activity over western India. The sudden jolt caused the aircraft to shake violently, sparking panic among the 172 passengers onboard. Some were reportedly heard screaming in fear as the turbulence gripped the cabin.
Despite the scare, the pilots and cabin crew, well-trained for such conditions, acted swiftly and followed standard safety protocols to stabilize the aircraft. The flight later landed safely at Lucknow Airport, and all passengers disembarked without any injuries.
However, several passengers expressed frustration over the lack of timely communication from the crew during the episode. They said that the absence of announcements or reassurance worsened the anxiety onboard.
This incident echoes a similar scare last month, when IndiGo flight 6E 2142 from Delhi to Srinagar, carrying 227 passengers including a delegation of Trinamool Congress MPs, flew into a sudden and severe hailstorm while approaching Srinagar.
