Goa Police Arrest Two ‘Godmen’ for Duping Woman of Rs 8.5 Lakh in Gold Ornaments

PERNEM: The Mandrem police arrested two persons for allegedly posing as ‘godmen’ and duping a woman of gold ornaments worth Rs 8.5 lakh under the pretext of performing special rituals for peace and prosperity.

The accused identified as Vijay Shinde and Dada Ingole, both from Solapur, Maharashtra along with another unidentified person, visited the complainant Amita Naik’s house at Chonsdaiwadda-Parsem in Pernem taluka, on February 11. Disguised as religious figures, they convinced and induced her to hand over her gold ornaments but later fled with them.

The police arrested the two accused and recovered all the stolen ornaments from them. The police are investigating to find out if the accused are involved in any more offences of similar modus operandi in on the State.

A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 316 (2) AND 318 (2) read with 3 (5) of BNS. Mandrem PI Sherif Jacques is conducting further investigations under the guidance of Pernem DySP Ashish Shirodkar and SP North Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
