In a rare and dramatic turn of events, two massive cobras, each measuring nearly 4 meters in length, were rescued from separate locations in Sanguem on the same day, sparking concern and fascination among local residents.

The first cobra was found coiled inside a pipe in Molcornem, alarming the neighborhood. Flazer da Costa, a local panch member, quickly contacted experienced snake rescuer and Animal Care Foundation (ACF) member Miguel Fernandes from Quepem. With assistance from the Forest Department and local youth, the cobra was safely extracted and secured.

Just hours later, another equally large cobra was spotted at Kavre Pirlem. This second rescue was carried out by renowned animal rescuer Rocky, who managed to safely capture the snake despite its size and strength.

Both cobras were transported to the Forest Department office in Quepem, where they are receiving appropriate care and will be relocated to a safer, natural habitat.

Wildlife experts have praised the quick response of the rescuers and the coordination between local residents and the authorities. The back-to-back rescues have raised awareness about the presence of large reptiles in the region and the importance of humane wildlife handling.
