
Two men from Uttar Pradesh were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly impersonating candidates during the CSIR – National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) recruitment examinations for the posts of Stenographer and Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), held at the institute’s Dona Paula campus.
The accused have been identified as Sunil Kumar (26), a resident of Prayagraj and Prashant Kumar from Bijnor, both from Uttar Pradesh. According to police, Sunil Kumar was caught appearing for the test in place of Prashant Kumar, who was found waiting outside the exam centre.
The incident came to light following a complaint by Rakesh Shukla, Controller of Administration at NIO. A police team led by Panjim PI Vijaykumar Chodankar, under the supervision of SDPO Sudesh Naik and SP North Goa Rahul Gupta, IPS, carried out the operation.
A case has been registered under sections 242 and 319 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Further investigation is underway.
