Acting on reliable intelligence, the Chittakul Police apprehended two individuals at the Goa-Karnataka border near Majali on charges of possessing illegal narcotics.

The accused, identified as Ibrahim Chowkdar and Kartik Kadwadkar, both residents of Karwar, were arrested with 50 grams of ganja in their possession.

The operation was led by PSI Narasimha, who, along with his team, intercepted the duo based on prior surveillance. According to the Police In-Charge of Chittakul Police Station, preliminary investigation has revealed that the ganja was purchased from Canacona, South Goa, and then smuggled across the border.

The arrest has once again put a spotlight on Canacona as a suspected transit point in the narcotics trade.

It may be recalled that one Brian Barretto, the accused in the Canacona cocaine seizure case, continues to remain absconding. Despite the passage of time, Canacona Police have failed to apprehend him.
