In a joint operation, Pernem DySP Salim Sheikh and Mandrem Police Inspector Girendra Naik arrested two Russian nationals found illegally residing in Vastwada, Arambol. The arrests were made during a routine police verification process.

The individuals were identified and taken into custody after they failed to provide valid documentation supporting their stay in India. Authorities confirmed that the foreigners were living in the area without proper visas or immigration clearance.

“Further investigation is underway to verify how long the individuals have been residing illegally and whether they are involved in any other violations,” said a senior police official.

The arrests come amid increased scrutiny of foreign nationals staying in coastal areas of Goa, especially in regions like Arambol and Morjim, which are popular among international tourists.

Officials from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) are expected to assist in the probe, and possible deportation proceedings could follow based on the findings.
