A tragic incident unfolded in Quitla, Aldona, on Thursday evening, where two elderly siblings, Sebastian Cardozo (68) and Avalina Cardozo (72), were found dead in their home under suspicious circumstances. Authorities are treating the case as a potential suicide-murder after discovering a note at the scene.

Sebastian was found hanging in the bedroom, while Avalina's body was discovered in the hall. Preliminary investigations suggest she may have succumbed to poisoning or a drug overdose. Police suspect Sebastian, who had traveled from his residence in Bastora to Quitla that evening, may have taken his sister's life before ending his own.

Sources close to the investigation revealed that Avalina, who was unmarried and ailing, lived alone in Quitla. On Thursday, Sebastian reportedly contacted a friend to arrange transportation to his sister's home, raising questions about his intentions that day.

Mapusa police, led by PSI Yashwant Mandrekar and PSI Ajay Dhuri, conducted the panchanama and shifted the bodies to Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim for post-mortem examination. The investigation is being overseen by SP North Akshat Kaushal and PI Nikhil Palekar, who have assured a thorough inquiry to determine the events leading to the tragedy.

Further details are awaited as police continue their probe.
