PONDA: A newly installed CCTV camera at Bethki Khandola Panchayat has been damaged by antisocial elements, prompting Sarpanch Vishant Naik to file a police complaint at Mardol Police Station.

Sarpanch Naik stated that the Panchayat had installed 11 CCTV cameras across the village, following Gram Sabha demands and resolutions. The cameras have proven effective in monitoring the village and deterring illegal activities, including garbage dumping at designated black spots. Naik noted that since the cameras’ installation, the village has been cleaner, and unauthorised garbage dumping has been significantly reduced.

Recently, however, one of the newly installed cameras, along with its stand and memory card, was vandalised by miscreants. Based on preliminary information, the Panchayat has provided the names of suspected individuals to Mardol Police, who are currently conducting an inquiry.

Sarpanch Naik warned that strict action would be taken against the culprits, emphasizing that those found guilty would face severe punishment under the law.
