MARGAO: The Varca Panchayat stopped a group of individuals from carrying out an alleged illegal survey in the village and for taking down addresses of residents.

The panchayat later asked these surveyors to leave the village. Sarpanch Selu Fernandes, who caught these persons, interrogated them at the panchayat office and asked them to produce whatever information they had gathered.

She was surprised to see the manner in which the information was recorded, which was totally not in keeping with the standards of any regular survey and ‘xyz Ghar Ke Aage’.

Calling them imposters, she urged the public to be vigilant and demanded that the government authorities intervene in the matter.

This comes against the backdrop of major concerns amongst residents about thefts reported in the coastal belt and Salcete taluka.
