Devotees from Vasco-da-Gama have made a renewed appeal to the South Western Railways to operate special trains to Vailankanni, Tamil Nadu, for the upcoming annual Novenas and Feast of Our Lady of Good Health.
A long-standing tradition for many Goan Catholics, the pilgrimage to the famous Vailankanni Shrine draws thousands every year. Locals are urging authorities to run trains on the proposed departure dates of August 27, September 2, and September 5, with return services on August 30, September 3, and September 8, 2025.
Devotees emphasize that such special services have been granted in the past and request the continuation of this support to facilitate a smooth and safe travel experience for pilgrims.
Many in the community remain hopeful that the railway authorities will respond positively, ensuring that the spiritual and cultural tradition of this sacred journey continues uninterrupted.
