Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas recently shared the vision behind the newly launched internship programme designed for Goan students. The initiative, which has sparked keen interest across the state, aims to provide young people with practical exposure to governance and public service, equipping them with skills and values needed to become future leaders.

Viegas highlighted that the core objective of the programme is to nurture leadership qualities among students, preparing them to excel in fields such as politics, administration, and beyond. Addressing the participants, he drew attention to the significance of the word “Lokseva” in the programme’s title, noting that it underlines the fundamental value of serving the public.

He explained that the internship goes beyond adding a line to one’s résumé. Instead, it focuses on understanding the responsibilities, ethics, and spirit of community service. “Lokseva means service to the people, and this programme is meant to cultivate that mindset in our youth,” Viegas said. “Whether you choose to become a politician, bureaucrat, or serve in another way, the foundation should always be service to society.”

Viegas urged students to embrace the internship with openness and curiosity, ready to learn from real-world challenges. This experience, he added, would help shape them into empathetic and responsible leaders capable of making meaningful contributions to the community. The programme, he concluded, reflects a broader commitment to empowering the next generation of Goans to lead with integrity and dedication to public service.
