Verna Police Seize 2.2 Kg Ganja Worth ₹2.21 Lakh, Arrest 28-Year-Old Madhya Pradesh Native

In a major drug bust, Verna Police on Monday evening arrested a 28-year-old man for possession of 2.2 kg of ganja valued at approximately ₹2.213 lakh. The narcotics raid was carried out behind the Pirni Circle bus stop in Verna based on specific and credible intelligence inputs.

The accused has been identified as Rahul Kumar Kerwat, a native of Ward No. 7, Pasle, Anupur in Madhya Pradesh, currently residing at H. No. 181, Kumborda, Verna. The operation was conducted between 6:00 pm and 9:19 pm, during which Kerwat was apprehended at the scene with the contraband.

Verna Police have registered a case under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The seized ganja was recorded under a formal panchanama, and all legal protocols under the NDPS Act were strictly followed.

The accused has been taken into police custody and is being interrogated. The investigation is being led by PSI Carey Fernandes, under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.

Authorities have intensified anti-narcotics operations in the region and are expected to further probe the source and distribution network linked to the accused.
