Violence Erupts Outside Night Kitchen in Delhi Over Car Horn Incident

Two men were viciously attacked with beer bottles and stones in Delhi’s Dwarka Sector 10 in the early hours of July 27, after one of them honked to call a waiter at a night kitchen, according to a Delhi Police statement.

The incident occurred around 2:30 am when Manoj and Kunal were targeted by a group of 7–8 men who arrived in a BMW and a Thar. What began as a simple honk for service reportedly triggered a violent response. The attackers allegedly pelted the duo with bottles and stones, shattered their car’s windows, and physically assaulted them. Both victims were later hospitalised at a private facility.

In a separate case of road rage just two days earlier, another man, Awadhesh Rai, was beaten unconscious in the Munirka area around noon on July 25. Police said the altercation began when Rai did not give way quickly enough to a two-wheeler rider who was honking persistently. Despite Rai's attempts to clarify the situation, the rider—accompanied by a woman—allegedly hurled abuses. The dispute quickly escalated, and Rai was attacked with sticks by the rider and his associates.

Police have registered cases in both instances and launched investigations. In the Dwarka case, the attackers fled the scene immediately after the assault. For the Munirka case, authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the culprits

Both incidents have raised fresh concerns about escalating urban aggression and public safety in the capital, especially during late-night hours.
