Former State Cultural Development Committee member Vishal Pai Cacode has raised strong objections to the recent changes in the Ravindra Bhavan Margao booking system, calling it a move that undermines transparency and democratic functioning.
Cacode criticized the new process that requires personal approval from Chairman Rajendra Talak for every booking, labeling it as an "autocratic gatekeeping mechanism." He claimed the venue, once accessible and public-friendly, now operates like a "one-man show."
"This isn’t administration—it’s dictatorship in disguise," he said, urging the new Member Secretary to intervene and flag the system as a misuse of authority. According to Cacode, the centralization of control not only hampers cultural activity but contradicts the institution’s public purpose.
He emphasized the need to restore administrative accountability, transparent procedures, and the democratic ethos of the cultural center. "The culture of control must give way to a culture of openness," Cacode concluded.
