Wall Collapse Near Milagres Church in Mapusa; No Injuries Reported, Authorities Rush to Site

A wall collapsed near Milagres Church in Ward No. 11 around 4:00 pm on Monday, crashing onto the adjacent road and triggering panic among local residents. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident.

The collapse is believed to have been caused by continuous heavy rainfall, which weakened the structure. The affected area houses nearly 50 to 60 residents, many of whom live in temporary structures lacking proper foundations or retaining walls, increasing the vulnerability of the locality during monsoon spells.

Upon receiving the alert, Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson Priya Mishal, accompanied by the Mapusa Police and Fire Services personnel, promptly reached the site to assess the situation and ensure public safety.

Municipal authorities are expected to take preventive steps and assess the stability of nearby structures to avoid further incidents. Residents have urged the government to take urgent action to strengthen infrastructure in the area.
