Social worker Warren Alemao has strongly condemned the hazardous condition of dug-up roads in the Benaulim constituency, warning that they pose a serious threat to commuters and calling for immediate accountability from local leaders. Alemao stated that if even one life is lost due to these dangerous roads, the local MLA must be held responsible. He stressed that the people of Benaulim need real action, not just social media statements. His remarks echo the mounting frustration among residents, many of whom have described the roads as “death traps” and criticized the MLA’s inaction despite numerous complaints about unsafe infrastructure.
Locals have pointed out frequent accidents and ongoing dangers, especially on stretches affected by incomplete or poorly executed roadworks along the Western Bypass and other vital routes. Problems such as unfinished culverts, missing speed breakers, and makeshift or confusing traffic islands have worsened safety concerns. Residents are urging the panchayat and public works department to carry out urgent repairs and implement effective safety measures. The message from the community is clear: authorities must prioritize road safety and provide lasting solutions to prevent further accidents and tragedies in Benaulim.
