PANJIM: Torrential rains threw normal life out of gear as Goa witnessed a flood-like situation on Tuesday. Several streets in the towns were flooded as rainwater and sewage overflowed on the roads due to blocked drains.

Commuters were inconvenienced as Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) bus stands in Panjim and Margao experienced inundation. The underpass opposite Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) witnessed massive waterlogging as motorists struggled to wade through the water. The OPD services at the hospital were badly affected.

In Margao, the visitors are facing difficulty in entering the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) due to the inundated streets.

The heavy rain flooded the fish market in Pernem, which reignited the demand for constructing a new fish market.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), which issued an orange alert for Tuesday, changed the same to a red alert.
